The university established the Graduate Institute of Documentary in 1996. From 1998 to 1999, the Graduate Institute
of Animation and the Graduate Institute of Arts Management were established, respectively. Together with the Multi-Media
Center and Newsreel and Documentary Film Archives (which collect, preserve and restore moving images), these Graduate
Institutes changed their names in 2004 to become the first College of Sound and Image Arts in Taiwan.
Starting in 2010, the Graduate Institute of Documentary established the Division of Film Archiving and the Division of
Documentary Production. The Graduate Institute of Animation and Graduate Institute of Art Management were integrated into
the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art, which includes the Division of Animation Art and the Division of Image Aesthetics.
Moreover, the Department of Applied Music was also added.
Currently, there are 16 full-time teachers and 9 part-time teachers in the College, which offers nearly 60 professional
